Bodybuilding – Try it, you’ll like it.

We wrote this article in 1982 and it still holds true today as it did then. The first thing people think about when they hear the phrase Bodybuilding is big muscles. Muscular size is only a part of it. We are more concerned with developing and enjoying a healthy body, with all the benefits of strength, endurance and peace of mind. It takes Men and Women years and years to develop big muscles, especially women. Women do not have the male hormones that help to develop muscular size. I have seen ladies that body build and they don’t have big arms and legs, they are just in great shape.

Everyone thinks when you’re bodybuilding you must spend two or three hours in the gym. This is a misconception, because it takes only 45 minutes to an hour to achieve the maximum benefits. You’re seeing younger and older people getting involved in the sport. Thirty Five years ago you couldn’t tell a coach that weight training could improve an athlete’s performance. You were even less successful in convincing women that they could build a beautiful body through weight training without getting muscles like a man. And try to tell a businessman he could improve and lengthen his productivity if he got in shape.

People who are hesitant about taking up bodybuilding hopefully will take another look at the sport. For one thing your self-esteem is better and your confidence grows as you see yourself getting into better shape.

People are pursing muscle and fitness with a passion as they become more and more aware of the benefits of exercise. More than ever before people are exercising for their health not just mainly for their appearance. Now, fitness is recognized as the best health insurance you can buy. It fights diseases and slows down the aging process. Only exercise combined with a sensible diet will help you achieve your dream body.
